Mission and Vision

Our mission is to ensure that the students of Translation and Interpreting Department’s have the identity of a researcher producing information and technology at universal quality and to provide them with multidimensional education and training in terms of being respectful individuals in the community and participants in the profession, having the spirit of sharing and original and aesthetic values.

Our mission is to become the most competent translation department at international level in Turkey in academic studies for Translation and Interpreting Department and in the training of individuals who adopt translation studies as a profession; to train multilingual translators and interpreters who are preferred to be employed in national and international organizations; and to become a leader department contributing to the science world as well as to the development of the country.

 

Undergraduate Program

It is planned that the Department of Translation Studies will be 4 years long (8 semesters) and the courses included in our program will be composed of core curriculum and vocational courses (compulsory)  as well as elective courses according to the interests of the students. For the students who will prefer Arabic and English Translation and Interpretation Departments which are the two programs planned to provide undergraduate program at the first stage, preparatory training for one year is foreseen.

In addition to the undergraduate program, students will be provided with an opportunity to do a double major and do a minor at the Departments of Arabic and English Teaching; Arabic Language and Literature and English Language and Literature. One of our goals is to send students who are educated in the related  branches to abroad within the scope of the Erasmus Learning Mobility.

 

Job Opportunities

Graduates of Translation Studies are employed as freelance translators in various fields of specialization, as institutional translators (law, public administration, literature, medicine, engineering, etc.) or proofreaders as multi-layered language specialists who are increasingly in need, terminology specialists, subtitle specialists, localization experts and information and communication technology specialists, project managers, redactors, translation editors, translator educators, cultural experts, translation agency operators, academicians and teachers.
